CDP Statement on Los Angeles Teachers Strike

Sacramento, CA – Today, California Democratic Party (CDP) acting Chair Alexandra “Alex” Rooker released the following statement regarding the strike by the United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA):

“The California Democratic Party stands in solidarity with the tens of thousands of teachers demanding better resources for students in Los Angeles,” said Alexandra “Alex” Gallardo Rooker, CDP’s acting chair. “While no one wants to see a strike, we support UTLA’s goals of reducing and capping class sizes, increasing the number of teachers, counselors, librarians and school nurses, and better compensation for school staff. California’s students deserve to have teachers and school staff who are equipped with the resources necessary to help them succeed. We urge all parties to continue negotiations to break their impasse for the sake of our children.”
