Statement from CDP Acting Chair Alexandra Gallardo-Rooker

Sacramento, CA – The following is a statement from California Democratic Party (CDP) Acting Chair Alexandra “Alex” Gallardo Rooker:

“Eric Bauman’s decision to take a leave of absence from his day-to-day duties as chairman of the California Democratic Party while an independent investigation can be launched and concluded is the appropriate course of action,” said CDP First Vice Chair Alex Rooker.

“As I assume interim day-to-day responsibilities of the Party, my foremost concern is the safety and well-being of CDP employees,” Rooker said. “Today, I met with Party staff and officers to make sure they know that we are committed to supporting all of our staff, especially those who are feeling most vulnerable. We will also be reaching out to the CDP Executive Board in the near future to walk them through the investigative process.”

“If we are to continue leading this party in the right direction, we can only do so with the full faith and confidence of all California Democrats,” Rooker concluded. “As a Party, we are committed to full transparency no matter the outcome, and to communicating openly with Democrats statewide throughout every step of this process. Having served as a California Democratic Party officer for 21 years, I look forward to bringing stability to our Party during this challenging time.”
