Statement from California Democratic Party Chair Eric C. Bauman on release of memo concerning Ellis Campaign

California Democratic Party Chair Eric C. Bauman released the following statement in reaction to the release of a memo concerning the Ellis campaign:

"The release of a memo by Tuple Law Firm concerning the campaign of Kimberly Ellis was provocative and unnecessary. It was not authorized by me, my campaign, or my legal counsel, and I have called Ms. Ellis and her campaign leader, Hilary Crosby, to express my sincere regret that this action was taken.

I denounce this action in the strongest possible terms, and have asked Tuple Law Firm to withdraw the memo. I continue to urge all Democrats, regardless of who they supported in the campaign, to keep focused on the crucial issues in front of us, like organizing for single-payer, Medicare-for-all healthcare reform, combating income inequality and protecting the rights of immigrants, women and the LGBT community, and of course, reforming and revitalizing our party."
