Sacramento—The California Democratic Party today announced its new senior staff. In an email to party members, CDP Chair Bauman and the statewide officers introduced the new team, as well as new changes to the CDP organizational structure that will be implemented following the long-planned departure of CDP Executive Director Chris Myers.

“We have chosen a team that will excel at helping take the California Democratic Party to the next level. Each of these individuals has been a longtime activist in our Party, and has worked in some of the most progressive and effective institutions in California politics and state government,” said Chair Bauman, who made the announcement on behalf of the statewide officers of the CDP.

Additionally, the email outlined a new, flattened organizational model for the CDP. Instead of the Executive Director model that has been used in the past, we have flattened out the organizational structure and adopted a model where Party operations are carried out in four separate divisions: Compliance & Accounting, Communications, Operations and Political. Each division will have a Director who reports to the Chair and Statewide Officers.

“This management structure will complement and amplify the shared governance model of decision making that we have adopted among the statewide officers,” said Chairman Bauman. “Chris Masami Myers was a phenomenal Executive Director of the California Democratic Party, and I am grateful that he agreed to stay on these additional few weeks of the transition. The California Democratic Party is a stronger, more effective organization because of his leadership, and I know the entire CDP wishes him success in his next venture.”

The new CDP Senior Staff, and a brief description of their responsibilities, are:

Compliance & Accounting Director – Chacha Guerra
The Compliance and Accounting Director will be responsible for and oversee the CDP’s campaign finance reporting and accounting operations. Chacha Guerra has been a CDP staff member for 25 years, and has been successful in leading the highly regarded compliance team.

Communications Director – John Vigna
The Communications Director oversees a wide range of communication services, including press relations, digital communications and online strategy. John Vigna is a former Communications Director for Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher, Board of Equalization Member Fiona Ma and Assembly Speaker Emeritus John A. Pérez. John Vigna has served as President of the California Young Democrats, Founding Co-Chair of the CYD LGBT Caucus and Vice Chair of the Shasta County Democratic Party.

Operations Director – Tina McKinnor
The Operations Director will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities at the California Democratic Party Sacramento headquarters, working with the information technology team, as well as assisting the Chair and Statewide Officers in fundraising. Tina McKinnor has served as an Assembly Chief of Staff and District Director and worked as a compliance specialist at the Kaufman Legal Group. She is also the Principal of the McKinnor Group, a campaign treasury firm based in Southern California she founded in 2007.

Political Director – Clark Lee
The Political Director will oversee the planning and execution of the CDP’s grassroots organizing, political and campaign efforts, as well as overseeing the member services team. Most recently, Clark Lee was the New Hampshire State Director for NextGen Climate and served as Director of Party Leader Outreach for the Democratic National Convention. Previously, he was the Director of Political Affairs and Communication for the Los Angeles County Democratic Party. He has served as Chair of the CDP Asian Pacific Islander Caucus, a CDP Regional Director, and a board member of the California Young Democrats and the California College Democrats.
