Statement of California Democratic Party Chairman John Burton on the Passing of Democratic Activist Donna Patterson

California Democrats mourn the passing of Democratic activist Donna Patterson. Donna was a long-time member of the state Central Committee, co-chair of the Party's Rules Committee and previously served on the Credentials Committee.

In addition to serving on the State Central Committee Donna previously served as Chair of the San Mateo County Democratic Party and Stanislaus County Democratic Party. Her leadership in Stanislaus helped revitalize that County organization and as a direct result we now see more Democratic seats in play where once there were only Republican elected officials.

She was also one of the early adapters who took the Party from 3x5 cards into the future with computerized voter targeting.

Everyone who came in contact with Donna remarked that she was a caring person with a big heart. She will be missed.

Our hearts go out to her husband Edward, her sons John, James and Doug, her daughter Debbie and her nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The Patterson family has set up a memorial website so that friends and relatives can share their memories of Donna:
