• California Needs an On-Time Budget
  Teachers, firefighters and nurses have launched a petition drive to put a majority vote budget on the ballot in November.  Their measure changes the vote requirement to pass a budget from two-thirds to a simple majority and penalizes legislators for failing to do their most important job – passing a fair budget on time.
  
  
• Tell the Tea Baggers: Not in California
  We won’t let the same thing happen in California that happened in Massachusetts. Not in California. Not this year. Not to our candidates. Send a message to the Tea Baggers and their candidates: "Not in California."
  
  
• End Filibuster Abuse
  Enough is enough. It’s time to end Joe Lieberman’s reign of terror and restore democracy to the Senate by changing Rule 22 and ending the filibuster. E-mail Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid today and tell him it’s high time to end the practice of filibuster abuse.
  
  
• Reject Misguided Tax 'Reform'
  The recommendations made recently by the Commission on the 21st Century Economy (COTCE) would take California in the wrong direction, creating a tax system that would benefit the super-rich at the expense of poor and middle-class Californians. Sign our petition to the California Legislature today — and urge lawmakers to reject the Commission's misguided tax reform recommendations.
  
  
• Health Care Reform: Public Option
  The California Democratic Party’s Executive Board members agree that the best solution would be a single-payer plan. Barring that, a health reform plan must include a public option, which will provide true competition to private insurance companies and drive down costs. Please help by writing a letter to your representative and senators today.
   
• Exit Strategy for Afghanistan
  At our recent California Democratic Party Executive Board meeting, members voted to support HR 2404, which will require the Secretary of Defense to define an exit strategy for Afghanistan, so we can start bringing our troops home. Please help bring our servicemen and servicewomen home by urging your member of Congress to support HR 2404.
