We have a winner in our Summer of Change ’08 Contest! Sign the Summer of Change Petition
This summer California faces a budget fight over a projected $8 billion budget shortfall. That budget fight, though, is going to be about a lot more than just a bunch of dry numbers. This summer we’re going to have to ask ourselves hard questions. We have to fix an $8 billion deficit. So do we want to cut funding to our schools? Remove the safety net to seniors? Shortchange our veterans? Or do we want to start charging sales tax on yachts, tax the windfall profits of oil companies, and make the wealthiest Californians pay their fair share? To shine a light on these important questions, we asked creative Californians up and down the state to submit 30-second videos that spelled out exactly what’s at stake this summer. And that’s just what they did. They told us stories about the issues that matter to them. They told us stories about the dangers of letting Republicans sacrifice community services that have made our state great. Now the voting in our contest has ended and we have a winner! You can also check out the runner-up videos here. The video will run as an ad between June 15th and June 26th in Sacramento. It will be broadcast on the following networks: CNN, Headline News, MSNBC, Food, Fox News Channel, Fox Sports, ESPN, Arts & Entertainment, Animal Planet, Comedy Central, MTV, TNT, The Learning Channel, and USA. |
