Please note that both the At-Large and PLEO (Form C) Delegates are put forth by the presidential campaigns – there is no campaigning and there are no elections or caucuses held. The campaigns make their decisions with the goal of balancing the entire California delegation of 441 to reflect our state’s diversity.

Additional Delegate Information

At present, there are 4,049 Delegate slots nationally, excluding Florida and Michigan. Democratic presidential candidates must get 2,025 Delegates to win the nomination. 

Delegate Costs
There are no attendance fees for the National Convention; however all Delegates are responsible for their own expenses, including travel, lodging and meals (estimated at $2,500).

The 241 elected District-Level Delegates will meet and confirm 

  • 48 PLEO Delegates
  • 81 At-Large Delegates & 22 Alternates
  • California Delegation Co-Chairs
  • 51 National Standing Committee Members from California (17 Credentials, 17 Platform, 17 Rules)

Superdelegates
33 Democratic National Committee (DNC) Members, 31 Congressional Members, plus the vacant Tom Lantos seat which should be filled prior to the convention, and 1 former DNC Chair, Charles Manatt.  Actually, there are 35 Democrats in Congress (33 House & the vacant Lantos seat, plus Senator Boxer and Senator Feinstein) but four of our Congressional Members are also on the DNC and therefore are counted as DNC Members.
