Candidates

Name   Gender   Candidate Statement

JOHN VASSILIADES   Male   My fellow Democrats, Along with many other democratic activists throughout the state I am adding my voice to be a member in a team that espouses our views for the future of our nation. This is also your opportunity to choose the delegates to the state convention and to help decide who will lead our party. My commitment to you is that I will work relentlessly to ensure that our party is financially secured and has the candidates that share your aspirations. My involvement as a Democratic Party believer and supporter goes back to my years in college in the early 80's. Since then, I volunteered much of my time, resources and hard work for the Democratic Party, helping in each election, registering new voters, doing fund raisers, walking precincts, canvassing and phone banking for various candidates who ran in local, state or federal elections, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Gray Davis, Jerry Brown, Bill Lockyer, Debra Bowen, Loretta Sanchez, Linda Sanchez, Judy Chu, Betty Karnette, Jenny Oropeza, Phil Angelides, Kamala Harris, Janice Hahn, John Chiang, Dave Jones, Betty Yee, Tony Mendoza, Ted Lieu, Norma Torres, Sharon Quirk-Silva, Linda Sanchez, Jose Solorio and many others. I have

Gregory Ferguson   Male   I Am a lifelong Union Member and Democrat, I have served Unions as steward and as a officer. I have served as a delegate in the past. We need a balance of young and older delegates I am 58 years old but young at heart! Please consider voting for me!

Aaron Wodka   Male   I believe in the mission and vision of the Democratic party. The platform we stand on gives a voice to many people throughout our country . The work begins here, at the community level, and as delegates it is our job to echo the voices of our neighbors to the desks of our leaders in Sacramento. These are the values I learned as a child at my grandmother's dinner table. These are the values I continue to learn as a student in college. I am committed to lifelong work for the Democratic party. Affording me this opportunity with your vote is a promise to hold our party leaders accountable at the convention and the work that comes afterward.

Josh Newman   Male   I am submitting my name for consideration as an Assembly District Delegate for California's 72nd Assembly District, in order to ensure that Democratic voters of Northern Orange County are fully and vigorously represented and inform the work of the party as we do the critical work of fully preparing for the elections of 2016 while continuing to engage registered Democrats, identify and enroll new Democratic voters, and otherwise advance the goals of the party in our part of the state. I'm very proud to have been a registered Democrat for my entire adult life, and I am equally proud to be an active current member of both the Democrats of North Orange County and the Veterans Caucus of the California Democratic Party. It would be an honor to serve as one of the 14 Democratic men and women chosen to represent the 65th Assembly District, and I thank you in advance for your consideration and your support.

Peter Anderson   Male   Member, Democrats of North Orange County, since 2004 Secretary, 2009-2010, President, 2011-2014 Assembly District Delegate since 2007 Congressional Candidate, 39th CD, 2014 I want to continue to help to get Democrats elected and to help to get good legislation passed.

Charles Loren Doll   Male   I am an active democrat, an member of the central committee, and an active volunteer.+

Christopher Sanchez   Male   As a grandson of a teamster I was taught democratic and labor values at a very early age. It was my grandfather who taught me to be an advocate for my community and fight injustice. As a young democratic I have continued to exemplify such values by advocating for issues that matter to the communities I live in. Additionally, because of my commitment to community and volunteerism in 2011 I was given the honor by the California Democratic Party as the first award recipient to receive the Sargent Shriver Award, an award given to only two young democrats in the state of California. Since then I have taken an even more proactive role within the democratic party by previously serving as Vice Chair of the Orange County Young Democrats and as a Vice Chair to the California Democratic Party Chicano Latino Caucus. If elected to be a delegate I plan to support any platform that will strengthen the party's stance on immigration reform and workers rights. As a citizen born and raised in the 65th Assembly District I ask for your support in order to continue to build the community that I love and shape the California Democratic Party.

Jacqueline Mahrley   Female   Passion is a quality I'm sure I share with every other candidate, yet my passion is combined with levelheadedness and knowledge of both California politics and the issues facing this state today. Over the last year, I have become more active in politics at the city level. I write for the local newspaper regarding the city council and our homeless residents. Previously, I worked closely with our county's mentally ill. While I have no experience as a delegate, I have every desire to be responsible and do well.

Claudia Perez   Female   I am a California native who resides in Anaheim, CA since 1982. Currently I am the External Affairs Manager at Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties. I also serve as Housing and Community Development Commissioner for the City of Anaheim. I come with over 20 years of administrative and management experience in the fields of Government, Human Resources and Medical Industries. Prior to joining Planned Parenthood, I served as the Executive Assistant to California State Assemblyman Mike Eng (49th A.D). Prior to that I was the Executive Assistant at Children's Hospital of Orange County, Heart Institute Department and as the Office Manager with California State Senator Martha Escutia (34th S.D.).

Mirvette judeh   Female   My goal in running as a delegate for the Democratic Party in the O.C. Is to promote voting among our diverse city and help facilitate involvement for members specifically among the Arab-American and Latino-American populations. Our county is a beautiful one that is very diverse. I want to be one of the members of our community that bridges the gap. Being someone who was born in Puertorico, being multilingual, and raised in my beloved state of California will help me in making our county strive to be the best that it can be with and increase in involvement among members of our beautiful county. I believe anything is possible if you care. And for one I can wholeheartedly say that I care about my country, state, county, and city.

Stephen Weissbart   Male   I would like to represent our district as a delegate to the California Democratic Party Convention. I am a lifelong resident of Fullerton and I have helped out on several political campaigns.

Arnel Dino   Male   My name is Arnel Dino and I am running for re-election as an a 65th ADEM. I have been very active in local Democratic politics over the last two years, including attending the last two state wide conventions, acting as a proxy on the central committee, and actively volunteering on local campaigns. Professionally, I have been a nonprofit consultant working for various local and national charities and have been a resident of Fullerton for over 30 years, having graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Asian Pacific Studies. I also hold nonprofit certifications from Cal State Fullerton. I would be honored to serve as an ADEM again to represent the 65th District to work for local and statewide issues to North Orange County and for candidates in our area. My most important issue is increasing involvement locally among younger voters and creating engagement opportunities within the political process. Thank you for your time and I appreciate your vote.

Rashad Al-Dabbagh   Male   The day I became an American citizen, I made sure I register to vote. Since then, I have been an activist and fundraiser for many Democratic Party campaigns, registering hundreds of citizens to vote. My commitment to justice, equality and protecting the rights of all people motivated me to get involved in causes that empower the community. As a delegate, I will work with various ethnic, immigrant, and faith communities to broaden the base of support for the California Democratic Party and its progressive values, and advocate for equality and justice for all. It would be an honor to serve as a delegate for Assembly District 65. Thank you for your consideration and support.
