Julio Esperias   Male   Hello! My name is Julio C. Esperias, I'm a product of South Los Angeles and proud to call my home. I began my professional career with Southwest Voter Registration Education Project where I gained valuable insight on the importance of increasing the participation of Latinos in the American democratic process. I have worked for non-profit organizations focusing on a wide variety of issues, including HIV/AIDS, STEM education, immigration, and voter education. I also worked for NALEO Educational Fund, where I was responsible for the recruitment of the nation's Latino elected and appointed officials. In this capacity I played an important role in shaping the largest national network of Latino leaders devoted to shaping and improving American society. I am a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz with a B.A. in Legal Studies. I have a vast interest in helping communities in South Los Angeles and policy makers find strategic solutions to problems associated to land use, housing, economic development, the environment, sustainability, and the design of livable communities.

Efren Martinez   Male   As a committed lifelong democrat, I am currently a 59th Assembly District Democratic Party delegate covering the communities of: Walnut Park, Florence-Firestone and parts of South Los Angeles, Huntington Park and Vernon. We have come a long way these past two years; as a delegate I made sure that every vote I took, kept our Democratic Party progressive not forgetting our core values and foundation. While our party's leadership, delegates and democratic voters collectively were successful in keeping all of our major state office seats, we still have much work ahead of us; such as, continuing to improve our healthcare system, our educational system and continuing to support resolutions and candidates that will put our communities first. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to continuing to represent you at the California Democratic Party. Efren Martinez

Boris Ricks   Male   I am a lifelong resident of the 59th Assembly District. I was born, raised, educated, employed, and currently reside in the 59th Assembly District. I am a firm believer in participatory democracy, civic engagement, and community service. At this time, I am dedicated and motivated to work with "our member" to move the district in a positive direction. Please consider my candidacy. "Homegrown and here to stay!"

Ricardo Mendoza   Male   The 59th Assembly District is in dire need of improved services, community engagement and activism. I will work with our community service organizations to ensure we have the sufficient support necessary to make positive changes in our community.

Alec White   Male   I am Alec White, the President of the USC College Democrats and I am excited to ask for your vote to become a delegate from Assembly District 59. As the President of the USC Democrats, I have been working extensively for and recruiting USC student volunteers for Democratic candidates across the LA area. Under my leadership, the USC College Democrats has assisted with 2014 campaigns such as the Sheila Kuehl campaign for Supervisor and organized a phonebank in Julia Brownley's critical House race. I am also on the host committee for the Young Democrats of America Convention which will be held in LA this August. In 2013, my club canvassed and phonebanked extensively for Assemblymember Ridley Thomas. Last summer of 2014, I worked for Assessor Prang's campaign by fundraising for his kickoff fundraiser and phonebanking. As a young person and the President of the USC Democrats, I am committed to getting more young people involved, especially at USC and motivating them to turnout in the 2016 elections where we will endorse strong and committed candidates to take back our 2/3rds majorities in the legislature. Therefore, I hope to become a delegate from Assembly District 59.

Jay Cortez   Male   Thank you for your consideration in allowing me to serve as your 59th District Delegate. I live in the heart of the 59th District and have been engaged with community work for the better part of 10 years. Professionally, I'm currently working with at-risk youth in helping them reach their dreams of securing a diploma and creating action-plans for success in college and chosen careers. I also work as a community manager for a New York-based digital media company that has greatly improved my ability to leverage social media to engage the public, specifically younger audiences.
