Name   Gender   Candidate Statement
Noveed Safipour   Male   I am a Bay Area native who lives in San Mateo and works in Burlingame as a technical writer. Presently, I serve as the President of the Peninsula Young Democrats. I am multiethnic, with a Persian-American (Iranian) father and a half Mexican-American half Scottish-American mother. I also openly identify as gay and previously worked on campaigns for LGBT rights. I am running as a delegate for Assembly District 22 to make sure the communities I represent have a seat at the table. Because of my family's background, I am very aware that supporting immigrants sets our state up for success. I am a staunch advocate for equality, civil liberties, and an economy that works for everybody. But most importantly, I want to help our party improve its connection with young people. Too many young Californians have become disenchanted with politics and are not participating in our democracy--even though, in the long-run, we're the ones most affected by political decisions. I want to help our party take a stand in addressing housing affordability, health care, and public education without selling working families short. I hope I can earn your support to speak up on behalf of Democrats of all ages.
Rick Bonilla   Male   I am a proud and committed lifelong democrat who has been honored to be elected by my peers to represent them as an Assembly Delegate to the Democratic State Central Committee. I would like to continue representing democrats of the 22nd AD now and into the future as we continue to fight for our strongly held beliefs and values. I humbly ask for your vote.
Donald Frank   Male   I am running to represent all the young democrats in the Assembly District. To continue to receive support from young people, the state party must address the growing amount of student debt, and the rising tuition cost at the UC's and CSU's. I am a proud democrat and someone who has always fought for the democratic party. With that in mind I humbly ask for your vote.
David Lim   Male   Dear Fellow Democrats, I humbly ask for your support for the 22nd Assembly District Caucus. As a lifelong Democrat, I have served for the past five years as a member of the San Mateo City Council. I have volunteered my time to my community and the Democratic Party. Thank you for your support! David Lim
Richard Hedges   Male   I have been active in the Democratic Party since the age of 15. I began to volunteer as a poll watcher. I was educated as a teacher and worked as a teacher in California for a short time. I returned to School and obtained a Master's Degree in American Urban History and Urban Planning. I have work for the Civil Rights of all people, improved educational opportunities for all, suitable housing at affordable rates, the rights of workers and equal opportunity without exception. In 1968 I filed a case that led to the first desegregation of a public accommodations facility in Kansas City, Missouri. I am currently very involved in San Mateo County. I was a member of the San Mateo County Workforce Invest Board for 12 years, I am currently a member of the Personnel Board in the City of San Mateo, and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission regionally. I am the President of the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. I am also a 30 year delegate to the San Mateo United Homeowners Association. My last employment was for Congressman Tom Lantos and I worked for 30 years as a representative of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union. I hope my work with the Democratic Pa
Brian Perkins   Male   The Democratic Party is at an important crossroads and needs to be strengthened by reaffirming our commitment to jobs, housing and the environment. I will work hard to ensure that those who are not registered to vote have a reason to register, and to ensure that those who are registered have a reason to vote. Our endorsements are key to exciting our base and to attracting new voters, as is our outreach to youth. I respectfully request your vote to serve as a delegate.
eugene Mullin   Male   I look forward to continuing as a delegate, a position I have held in the past, and to work with other Democrats for the betterment of the state of California. I would appreciate your consideration in allowing me to continue contributing to our Party.
Rico Medina   Male   I will continue to offer my involvement and support to advance our Democratic Party values in equality of opportunity, employment, education, and equal rights for all. It has been my honor to have served on the Democratic Central Committee, as the 22nd district delegate, and past officer in the 19th AD. I have served as a long time San Bruno and County wide volunteer and currently serve on the San Bruno City Council for the past 9 years. As a candidate for the 2015 Assembly District Delegate I am privileged to have earned the endorsements of, and look forward to working with our local Democratic representatives. I will continue to promote our Party's platform and therefore ask for your vote as a Delegate for the 22nd Assembly District. Thank you.
Alicia Aguirre   Female   As a current AD 22 Delegate, I'm grateful for those who supported me in 2013 and determined to continue the hard work of so many activists in moving our Party and our state forward. I am proud to have the support of Congressmember Jackie Speier, Senator Jerry Hill, Assemblymember Rich Gordon, Assemblymember Kevin Mullin, and other progressive Democrats. With your help, as an AD 22 Democratic Party Delegate, I will continue to work diligently to ensure the success of Democratic candidates across the ticket and for progressive ballot measures that go before the voters. As a Latina, I am a resolute supporter of gender and ethnic equity within our state and Party. As a Canada College Professor, I am determined to restoring a quality public education system for all. I would be honored to have your support and I ask you for your vote.
Diana Reddy   Female   I am a life-long Democrat. I started out in a passive sort of way. In 1995 I was introduced to the PICO National Network and, specifically, Peninsula Interfaith Action (PIA), which is a federation of diverse Christian and non-Christian congregations, which addresses social justice issues and trains people to address identified inequities in their own communities (a personal passion). Through PIA I learned the importance of meeting with (and later supporting) Democrats, who genuinely care about people who are often forgotten. I started working at the national, state, and county levels advocating for healthcare for children and the Health Plan of San Mateo. Since retiring I have been a passionate advocate for truly affordable housing. For several years I have served as Secretary for San Mateo County Democracy for America (SMCDFA), a very active, progressive club in San Mateo County. Being a veteran leader with PIA and an officer for SMCDFA have given me tremendous perspective, and, I believe, has made me a valuable asset to my community. Being an Assembly District Delegate will make me an even more valuable asset. Please support my candidacy.
Patricia Frank   Female   I was honored to serve as a delegate last term and would be proud to serve again. It was such a positive experience to understand the nuts and bolts of how the party operates and forge new relationships. I would like to continue to bring more and more people into the democratic process by bolstering voter registration in under-represented areas. I also believe we all need to become actively involved in our communities and regions to create the type of government we want.
Chelsea Bonini   Female   I am a School Board Trustee in the San Mateo-Foster City School District, a business attorney, a former elementary school teacher, and an active volunteer & leader in my local community for various organizations. In addition, I am a Board Member for the San Mateo County School Board's Association (SMCSBA), serving as the Area 1 Representative. This would be my first opportunity to serve as a delegate and I would be honored to have your support to serve in this capacity for the democratic party and for my community.
Carole Groom   Female
Lori Liu   Female   As a lifelong Democrat, I was elected in 2013 to serve on the Brisbane City Council. As a community activist, wife, mother and attorney, I have always cared deeply about improving the lives of those in my community. I am proud to have the support of Congresswoman Jackie Speier, Board of Equalization member Fiona Ma and other progressive Democrats. Strongly committed to protecting the environment, providing jobs, and encouraging affordable housing, I have earned endorsements from the Sierra Club and the San Mateo County Labor Council. A graduate of Emerge CA, I am committed to enabling more Democratic women to run for office, get elected and seek higher office. I respectfully request your vote to serve as a delegate in AD 22.
