Jason McCartney   Male   I am committed to upholding the same democratic principles that I fought for as a U.S. Marine and continue to preserve as a Constituent Services Representative for Congressman Eric Swalwell. After 5 years of active duty, my wife and I moved to Fremont, where we live today with our two daughters. As a delegate, I would ensure that our leadership and legislation reflects our progressive values. It would be an honor to serve AD 20 and be a part of the greater Democratic movement fighting for opportunity and equality for all.
 
John Nguyen-Cleary   Male   I am the current co-chair of the statewide LGBT Caucus and of the Voter Services Committee in the CDP. I have been a member of the Executive Board of the CDP since 2006. I previously served 4 years as President of Stonewall (LGBT) Democratic Club. I was also the Founding President of Stonewall Young Democrats, the first LGBT-specific young dem organization in the country, and helped establish chapters in Los Angeles, San Diego, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, and elsewhere. I am a grassroots activist who gives a lot of my time to the Party! I am also Chair of the City of Fremont's Human Relations Commission. KIRK STEVEN   Male   I am a lifelong East Bay resident and have lived in San Lorenzo for the last 17 years. I graduated from CSU Hayward in 1992 with BA in Political Science. I have worked in the wealth management industry for the last 22 years. I was elected to the San Lorenzo Village Homes Association in 2012 and currently serve as its Secretary/Treasurer. I also sit on the Hayward Area Recreation District Citizens Advisory Committee and the Eden Area Livability Initiative Economic Development and Governance Steering Committees. I was proud to be part of President Obama's 2012 Presidential campaign. As An event coordinator for Organizing For America,I hosted over 100 events and my home and enlisted scores of volunteers to call voter voters across the county to get the President Re-elected. I later was the Director the Fremont OFA office managing the 100's of volunteers towards the end of the campaign. I have been a lifelong Democrat because I believe in the progressive values that our party promotes and abides by. I am committed to economic and social justice, campaign finance reform, expansion of voter access and voter rights, and stronger gun safety laws. I appreciate your support

Mark Williams   Male   My name is Mark Williams, and I am running to serve as an assembly delegate, to work to continue the success of the California Democratic Party locally in the 20th AD and statewide. I come from a family of union workers and life long Democrats, who's example of public service inspired me to become active in the Democratic Party. In Nov. I was reelected for a second term on the AC Transit Board of Directors, with the endorsement of both the Alameda County Central Labor Council, and the Alameda County Democratic Party. I also had the honor to serve as an AmeriCorps service member with the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter. To support the electoral success of the party, I've worked on several local and statewide campaigns phone banking, precinct walking and registering new voters. I've also attended multiple state conventions as an observer, to support and learn more about the statewide party. If elected I want to work on issues concerning education; public transportation; raising the minimum wage; supporting workers rights; and engaging young voters and minorities. Kewal Singh   Male   I am running to be a delegate to the California Democratic Party because I believe strongly in the democratic Party ' platform and I believe Indo-American Community needs more representation within the Party. Currently , I work as a Transit Quality Team Leader at BART and I am chief Steward for SEIU 1021and a worker representative during negotiations. I also ran this November for AC Transit Ward # 5 and I was a leading advocate in the Indo -American Community for measure BB. I also serve as the vice-chair of the federation of Indo-American in North California where I am charged with deepening the political engagement of the Indo-American community . It is my hope that as a delegate I will build a stronger network with other Democratic Party activists so that I can turn to them for advise on voter registration and increasing voter participation. I have learned a great deal this last year and look forward to learning more. As a delegate , I pledge to work collaboratively with other delegates , to work hard to register as many as voters as possible, and to educate voters, and especially Indo-American voters, about Party ' platform before every election.
 
James Farley   Male   I've been involved in Democratic politics since 1985. The first race I worked on was Alameda County Board of Supervisors race. I got into close-up when I was in high school, which studies government and takes a trip to Washington D.C. I was a field organizer hired by the Democratic Party. In 2004 I was Democrat of the year for Alameda County. In 2008 I was appointed to the Electoral college. In 2011 I won Regional Directors award presented to me at the Democratic Party State Convention. I worked for Mayor Ed Lee in San Francisco. I worked alongside candidates in various races. I have the heart and passion to do the work.
 
Ken Coelho   Male   Ken Russell Coelho is a resident of the AD 20 area, and has lived in Hayward, California for over 13 years. He is currently appointed to the management services business analytics team for the Behavioral Healthcare Services Agency and represents the residents of Hayward, Newark, Union City, the northern portion of the city of Fremont; and a portion of the unincorporated community of Sunol, on the Alameda County Public Health Commission. He has a career spanning 10 years of healthcare operations, management and research experience and currently serves as a site visitor of the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). He is also a member of the neighborhood Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), the Alameda County Pride Coalition, serves on the planning committee for the Annual Asian Heritage Festival and recently appointed to the Board of Goa Sudharop, a bay-area based non-profit focused on improving quality of life in Goa, India. He is also a published peer-reviewed author and is a product of the University of California system having completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at UC Berkeley and UCSF. Brannin Dorsey   Female   I am a life long democrat and have voted in every election since I turned 18 which was 24 years ago. I currently sit on the CA Dem Resolutions Committee and am the current chair of the Tri-City Democrats. I have served on the Fremont Planning Commission since January 2014 and am an alternate to the Alameda County Central Committee. Since my retirement and before I have staffed as Director various campaign headquarters including the infamous Recall campaign. This past year I've had health problems which precluded my service to the Party. I am now ready to go back to work once again.

I was elected to the New Haven Unified School District Board of Trustees and was endorsed by the Alameda County Democratic Party and the Alameda County Central Labor Council. Ann Crosbie   Female   I was born and raised a Democrat. I have recently served as the Executive Director of the Ohlone Area United Democratic campaign, as well as Vice Chair of the OAUDC. I have served as a party delegate and have attended our last three conventions. As a Fremont Unified School District Trustee and a California School Boards Association Delegate, I am fighting for equity in education and to close the achievement gap. As a member of the LGBT Caucus, I have pledged to end violence against LGBTQ students in our schools and I am looking forward to attending the Human Rights Campaign convention in February to learn more about how I can serve our students. I believe that education is the only way we can end inequality and I am committed to help elect the Democrats who will help make this happen. As a recognized strong supporter of labor, I was endorsed by all of our local employee groups who offer endorsements in my last election. The Democratic Party works to helps everyone (unlike another party that will remain nameless) including workers, the poor, unions, sick people, mothers and children and other disadvantaged people. I was born a Democrat. When I was 5 I asked my mother what was the difference between Republicans and Democrats. She answered that Republicans are for the rich and the Democrats are for everyone else. It's still true today! Being a delegate would be a wonderful way to work for our Democratic values!

Sonya Howes   Female   Hello, my name is Sonya Howes and I am interested in becoming an Assembly District Delegate for the 20th District. I am a retired special education teacher living in Castro Valley. I have been a registered Democrat since I was old enough to vote. I have been a member of the Castro Valley Democratic Club for 25+ years. I am on the executive board and have served in various other offices, including President for most of that time. I am an appointed member of the Castro Valley Sanitary District's Community Advisory Committee (CAC). The CAC works with the Board & District Staff giving them the community's perspective. I am Vice President of the Alcosta Retired Teacher's Association of CTA, a member of MoveOn.org, and serve on the nominating committee for the League of Women Voters. If appointed, I would support the state party's platform and help advance its agenda. I would work to develop a grassroots outreach program in the 20th District to involve & educate local democrats. I would also work with other delegates: conducting activities that would increase voter turnout. I am very motivated and would appreciate your support in becoming an ADD for the 20th District. carole georges   Female   My name is Carole Georges. I am an attorney with a strong interest in voting rights. Each election I work with the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and the Democratic Party on hotlines for precinct workers and voters to ensure that votes are honored and properly counted. In 2004 I went to Florida to monitor polls for the Presidential election to stop voter suppression. In 2012 I visited the Central states to gather information at Party HQs for an article on the new laws that made it harder to vote. As part of a progressive dem coalition in 2008 I monitored election day vote counting at the L.A. Co. Registrar's. Currently I am working on the integrity of the voting process for our own Alameda Co. Pre-Caucuses. I am on the Board of the Castro Valley Dem Club and have been a Club Rep to the ACDCC for 3 yrs. Lisamaria Martinez   Female   I am a woman, a mother, a Latina and a person with a disability. I have worked in the nonprofit sector in a variety of capacities for 16 years. My entire life has been dedicated to improving the lives of people through empowerment--whether that empowerment comes from learning how to read Braille or use a long white cane in order to be gainfully employed, or if it comes from actively participating in getting the right laws to pass to positively impact society. My parents have taught me how to stand up for what I believe in and how to make a difference in the world around me. They have also taught me the importance of giving back. For all of my adulthood, I have been extremely active in the blind and disabled communities. I have volunteered in various Democratic campaigns in my district and statewide at our convention. I am currently involved with the Disabilities Caucus and I am anxious to keep moving the party forward and coming up with new and fresh ideas that will strengthen and unite us.
