Candidates

Name   Gender   Candidate Statement

Kenneth Jowers   Male   I am a committed Democrat and am proud of the California Democratic Party platform. It represents my values as a Democrat and as a citizen of the state of California and of the United States of America. I am very active in Mendocino County Democratic politics. I currently serve as a Delegate to the State Convention for the 2nd AD. I am a former EBoard member representing Mendocino County. I serve on the Mendocino County Democratic Party Central Committee for almost ten years. I have taken the lead in forming TWO Democratic Clubs on the Mendocino coast. Currently serve on the Leadership Team of Democrats United for Progress Democratic Club of Mendocino/Sonoma Counties (an organization that serves Democrats on the coast of both counties). I also serve as the lead on the current Working Group that just formed the new Coast Democratic Club in Fort Bragg. I very much enjoy attending the conventions and have the financial where with all to attend around the state. I want to continue to be a Delegate for AD 2 and very much appreciate everyone's support and vote!!

Calum Weeks   Male   The Democratic Party Platform provides a progressive approach to the problems facing our Nation, State and local communities. As a recent graduate of the CSU system I have seen firsthand how the effects of decreased funding for public education has affected young people. I support the Democratic principles, party platform and candidates that have and will continue to make California an even better place to live for future generations. In the last year I have volunteered on campaigns for our newly elected Assemblyman and State Senator and for democrats endorsed by the Humboldt County Democratic Central Committee (HCDCC). In advance of the November, 2014 election I founded the HSU College Democrats Club to educate young voters on the Democratic Party and Candidates and I am also an officer of the North Coast Young Democrats. I am an Associate Member of the HCDCC and have contributed many hours to help progress our party forward. I would be honored to represent my fellow Democrats of Assembly District Two. Heck, I love California so much, it's my name. Please vote for me, Cal Weeks.

Joe Louis Wildman   Male   I am currently the Executive Board Representative from this Assembly District and hope to have your vote, both for Delegate and to continue on the Executive Board. My cell phone number is (707) 367-0910. I generally answer when it rings, but I always return calls. My e-mail address is joelouis@pacific.net. I hope to hear from you so we can discuss the future of the Democratic Party. Thank you for you participation.

Peter Jesella   Male   Lifelong Democrat, Vietnam-era Air Force medical veteran, pragmatic moderate liberal. SEIU-UHW member 35 yrs. ADD delegate 03-04, Kerry delegate 04 Natl. Dem. Convention Based on bill in Congress, 1980, proposed Youth Energy Efficiency Corps, like Peace Corps, 1930's CCC, CA Conservation Corps as a counterbalance to future US war in Persian Gulf due to oil and theory on climate change. Since 9/11 have had extensive photo encounters with US society's player's sharing idea- of a volunteer comprehensive National Youth Service System to replace meaningless Selective Service System. Info at: https://twitter.com/pjesella or https://www.facebook.com/PJesella Searching for allies regarding leveraging the registration requirement of males on 18th birthday for Sel.Ser.Sys. into a 1-year on-and-off pragmatic commitment towards unpaid part-time, community voluntarism in its many needs, or full-time contracted community-national service. Hope to find supporters in creating database web site to document political leaders of all perspective on this 3-part theme: Educational {decision-making} Democracy, Constructive {sweat-equity} Citizenship, and National {economic-individual} Security

Stephen Scalmanini   Male   I am a current City Council member of Ukiah, a lifelong California resident, and a lifelong Democrat. (Yes, I'd rather fight than switch.) I am new to formal party involvement but have worked on the campaigns of numerous Democratic candidates where I have lived of the years. I am also very aware of national and state political and social issues, and work locally to influence them. If I can help the Party head in a more historically progressive direction then I would like to be a delegate from the District in which I live. Thank you.

Tom Gordon   Male

Martha McClure   Female   I am Martha McClure, and I am asking for your vote as AD District Delegate. I have been an activist Del Norte County for the past twenty five years. I am currently in my fifth term as a County Supervisor and I am also a member of the California Coastal Commission. My experiences in government and Party activities make me an ideal candidate for the AD delegate position. My location in Del Norte County is also significant, in the past there has been little representation from the far north, I believe I bring a unique perspective on rural issues while still focusing on regional and state priorities. As one of your Assembly District Delegates I pledge to support the philosophy and endorsed candidates of the Democratic Party. It is my intention to supportthe efforts of our Party and increase participation in the Democratic activities in the district and state. My goals: * To reach out to our communities by sharing the philosophy of the Democratic Party encouraging grass root participation in all phases of elections and candidate support. * To create more political influence of our District at the local, state, and national level. Thank you for your vote and support.

Kathryn Donahue   Female   My name is Kathryn Donahue and have been a Registered Nurse for 38 years. I have been honored to serve as an AD2 Delegate for the previous two terms. Working in an acute care setting in healthcare I have witnessed daily how the needs of our society and citizens are ignored and forgotten. Advocacy for Social Justice is a Progressive value for which I work daily. Healthcare access with a single standard of care for all, environmental health, a healthy public education system, a healthy and fair economy, healthy public services that create good paying jobs are all issues related to health. The health of one issue will impact the health of other issues. During my career as a nurse I have enjoyed advocating for patients, as a California Nurses Association Board member fighting for social justice issues, as a shop steward fighting for nursing practice, as a CLC member learning about my community, and most recently as a member of the HCDCC. With your vote I shall continue my role in advocating for Social Justice.

Amelia Burroughs   Female   I am a lifelong Democrat, born and raised in Humboldt County. I now practice law and raise my family here. I also serve on the Board of Governors for California Women Lawyers, representing 19 rural Northern counties in California. I share the values of the California Democratic Party. I believe in reproductive rights, immigration reform, diversity in the judiciary and the legal profession, equal pay, consumer justice, and the protection of our environmental resources. If elected as a delegate for Assembly District 2, I would see it as a commitment of trust and a responsibility to ensure that these values are incorporated into the future of the Democratic Party in California. It's an honor to be considered for your vote.
