Open Letter from California Democratic Party Chairman John Burton to GOP Presidential Candidates Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich et al.
I have read countless newspapers and heard endless news clips about each of you calling for the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, which was signed into law by President Obama. I'd be interested to know which part of the act you find objectionable.
The section that protected millions and millions from having a lifetime spending limit cap arbitrarily imposed on them by their insurance companies?
The section that expanded insurance coverage for 54 million Americans who now have access to preventive services like mammograms, colon cancer screenings and contraception, with no out-of-pocket expenses?
The section that provided 32 million American seniors with preventive Medicare service?
The section that protected 17 million children with pre-existing conditions, who can no longer be denied insurance coverage?
The section that allowed 2.5 million young adults to remain covered under their parent's medical insurance until they are 26 years old?
If you could specify which section of the Affordable Healthcare Act you find objectionable and whose elimination you favor, I'd personally appreciate it. I believe all Americans whose votes you want in order to be President may be interested as well.
