Statement from CDP Chairman Art Torres on Prop 8 Court Filing

"I applaud the 44 members of the California Legislature who have filed an amicus brief with the California Supreme Court to continue the fight for equal rights for all Californians. As the court filing notes, Proposition 8 allows a bare majority of voters to eliminate a fundamental right of a constitutionally-protected minority group. The California Supreme Court must recognize that Proposition 8 violates the fundamental rights of Californians to equal protection under the Constitution, and void this measure.
