U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Retired Rep. Barney Frank to Join California Elected Leaders and more than 3,000 Delegates and Guests
SACRAMENTO – U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren and U.S. Rep. (ret.) Barney Frank will join California elected leaders and more than 3,000 attendees at the California Democrats State Convention on May 15-17 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
“Sen. Warren and retired Rep. Frank embody Democrats’ fight for fairness in our economy and financial reforms that reward Americans’ hard work and hope for the future,” said John Burton, Chairman of the California Democratic Party. “As California Democrats, we’re proud to count so many elected leaders who are in the same tradition and are showing leadership through action. Democrats must redouble their efforts to combat growing income inequality so that the American dream is attainable for a new generation of Americans, and California Democrats must lead that charge.”
Sen. Warren was the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts in 2012 and has led the drive to protect American workers and consumers. Retired Rep. Frank served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1981 to 2013 as its first openly gay member and championed reforms to repair the U.S. economy with the 2010 Dodd Frank Act.
Delegates and observers will also hear from statewide, Congressional and Legislative leaders, including Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, Atty. Gen. Kamala Harris, State Controller Betty T. Yee, State Treasurer John Chiang, Secretary of State Alex Padilla, Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones, state Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León, Assembly Speaker Toni G. Atkins, and others.
