On International Women's Day, California Democrats affirm the right of every woman to choose how to use her mind, her body, and her time. We are united in our work to promote equality of opportunity for all.
With appreciation for our California Democratic women leaders who fought valiantly for the passage of the Violence Against Women Act, we salute all who combat the scourge of human trafficking that places far too many of our sisters in peril. Rather than perpetuate emotional distance from these crimes, we believe it is necessary to embrace the survivors and devote our energy to confronting domestic violence and sexual assault in our country and around the world.
Today we recognize those courageous leaders who promote international efforts to educate and empower women and girls with health policy based on science and public discourse based on respect.
Strengthened by our diversity, we encourage solidarity among women regardless of class, creed, race, nationality, sexual orientation or sexual identity.
