Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones and Proposition 39 author Tom Steyer to Speak at Saturday General Session, State Senator Leland Yee to Headline Saturday Luncheon
Sacramento - The California Democratic Party's Executive Board will gather in Millbrae, California on the weekend of November 16-18. The Fall Executive Board meeting will be the first official state Party function since the historic 2012 election wins that resulted in the passing of Proposition 30, defeat of Proposition 32, picking up six House seats and achieving Supermajority status in the Legislature.
"California Democrats have worked hard to achieve these historic results," said California Democratic Party Chairman John Burton. "Our volunteers and field staff worked day and night to defeat Proposition 32 and pass Proposition 30 to stop the cuts to education. In addition, we picked up six Congressional seats, a Legislative supermajority and even helped San Diego elect the first Democratic mayor since 1988. We have a lot to be proud of as Democrats."
The Party's Executive Board members will attend to Party business including adopting 2013 State Convention rules and agenda and adopting resolutions. They will also receive a run-down of 2012 election activities and hear from Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones and Proposition 39 author Tom Steyer during general session on Saturday.
Members who purchased lunch tickets will hear from State Senator Leland Yee, author of the online voter registration law that was implemented this year, leading to a surge in new voters.
Lunch tickets will NOT be sold on site.
