Sacramento - The California Democratic Party announced today the opening of the delegate selection process for the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina to take place September 3-6, 2012.
This year, California will send a total of 547 pledged delegates and 46 alternates to Charlotte. Delegates from California will join their fellow Democratic delegates from across the country to officially nominate President Barack Obama for re-election in 2012.
The delegate selection process is open to all registered California Democrats and the state is known for fielding one of the most diverse delegations in the nation. Registered Democrats in California interested in becoming either a district-level, at-large, or PLEO delegate must fill out and submit a corresponding Statement of Candidacy and Pledge of Support form prior to the deadline.
