Finally after almost 20 years, the repeal of "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" was passed in Congress and signed into law. Special thanks should go to Speaker Pelosi who orchestrated the legislative process so the Senate had to come to an up-or-down vote on this issue. Special thanks also to Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer who fought for this issue and their outstanding work to try to pass the DREAM Act, which unfortunately was killed by the Republicans in the Senate. At least we will be ending the year on a high note with the repeal of "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell." There is more work to do on the DREAM Act and other issues next year. Hope each one of you have a happy holiday. Let’s hope in 2011 we will bring an end to the war and attacks on the poor and working-class people in this country.
