“Today’s Supreme Court decision opens the floodgates to allow corporations to spend freely on ads and voter contact, basically giving corporate America the loudest and most far-reaching voice in the democratic process.
“The ruling undermines free and fair elections and will further erode voters’ confidence in our system of democracy. When a candidate’s message is bought and paid for by Wall Street and other special interests, everybody loses.
“In California, Democrats will work hard to make sure that our candidates, like Senator Barbara Boxer, are elected no matter how much special interest money is used to attack them.”
