San Jose – At its summer Executive Board meeting held July 16-18, 2010 in San Jose, the California Democratic Party adopted the following positions on the November 2 general election statewide ballot propositions:
Proposition 19 Marijuana Legalization – Neutral
Proposition 20 Congressional Redistricting – No
Proposition 21 Fund State Parks – Yes
Proposition 22 Ballot Box Budgeting – No
Proposition 23 Repeals California Climate Change Law – No
Proposition 24 Repeals Corporate Tax Loophole – Yes
Proposition 25 Majority Vote Budget – Yes
Proposition 26 Requires Supermajority For Fees – No
Proposition 27 Eliminates State Commission on Redistricting – Yes
The CDP also endorsed Tom Torlakson for Superintendant of Public Instruction. Torlakson was endorsed by unanimous vote.
"Our members are fired up and ready to get to work," said John Burton, Chairman of the California Democratic Party. "There’s no way we can match Meg Whitman’s billions and Carly Fiorina’s millions of dollars but we can beat them in the trenches and Democrats will knock on every door and work to turn out every voter this November."
