It Gets Bluer Program

In 2011, after an election year that saw California Democrats retake the governor's office, despite being outspent 6-to-1, and sweep every constitutional statewide office, the CDP decided to launch a Latino voter registration drive in the Inland Empire and Fresno.

The program represented the first time the state Party partnered with local clubs and County Committees in traditionally "red" (Republican) areas to conduct volunteer-driven voter registration and to strengthen local organizing capacity.

The work Democrats conducted in 2011 helped lay the groundwork for another cycle of unprecedented Democratic victories, particularly at the Congressional and Legislative levels in the Inland Empire, in 2012.
