Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed an executive order to reduce the salaries of 200,000 state employees to the federal minimum wage of $6.55 an hour. Democratic Controller John Chiang, the man who writes the checks for California, has bravely said "No" to the Governor.

Democrats in California are ready to make history this November in one of the most important and exciting presidential elections of our lifetimes.  While we will be working hard to elect Barack Obama, we also have important work to do here in California. 

The enthusiasm generated by this year’s presidential campaign has the potential to create a surge that will yield gains in both Congress and in critical State races, resulting in a strong Democratic governing majority.  In addition, there will be several exceptionally important issues that will be addressed by ballot propositions in November.
